Where's The Cat?

"Hey honey. Did you have a nice day?" (She puts down her keys on the table)

"Ehm, hi! Yeah... yeah it was okay, I guess. Just like any other day, you know. Work, then home, no biggie. How about you? Did you have a nice day?" (He's standing in the doorway to the kitchen.)

Pause.

"You're acting weird? Did something happen today?" (She walks towards him)

"No, me? No, no. Just told you. Just another regular day. You know what, why don't I put the kettle on and you sit down. You must be tired, yeah, you sit down and rest your weary feet and tell me about your day." (He guides her into the kitchen)

"Okaaay. You're acting a bit weird."

"Nah, I'm just a little tired, maybe. Or maybe too energetic. Not sure. Can't figure it out, just one of those days I guess. Do you want tea or coffee?" (He opens the cupboard)

"Coffee, please. I still got some work to do online." (She sits down)

"Oh yeah? What kind of work? Too bad. I was hoping we could have like some chill-time. You know, maybe order some food and just relax on the couch. Everything's taken care of in the house, cause I came home early, you know, so I've... I've taken care of everything. You can just relax. Coffee, yeah?" (He pours coffee into the French Press.)

"Honey, you're acting really weird. Something is going on." (She sits on the edge of her seat. Hands on her knees.)

"No, no. Seriously. I don't know why, but yeah, I might be a bit beside myself today, but hey, you know those days, right? Now, how was your day?" (He pours hot water into the French Press.)

(She sits back. Arms over cross. There's a pause.) "Hm, I guess, it was alright. As usual Alice didn't do any work. I'm so done with her."

"Oh" (laughs a little) "Are you now? Just kidding, we've talked about her a lot. Have you talked to your boss about her?"

(She relaxes her shoulders) "No, not yet. I kind of want to give her one more chance."

"Why would you give her extra chances? You've... you've already given her so many, right? I mean, why would you give her more chances?" (Little pause) "I mean, or maybe, yeah, maybe forgiveness is actually better. I think that's actually really the right way to go. To give her an extra chance. That's the most humane thing to do. Well done, darling."
