What Are You Chasing?

"What are you chasing?" Mia asked Elly. Elly jumped into the air with her net on a stick and swung it forwards and groaned when her mission had failed. "I'M-" another jump, another swing. "TRYING-" jump, swosh, "TO CATCH-" running, a jump, swosh, "A-" Elly made one big leap but fell to her knees. "OUCH! FUCK!" she exclaimed hugging her hurt knees. Mia ran to her and sat down next to her and looked concerned at Elly's scratched knees. "A what?" Mia asked. "A feeling." Elly said and spat on the ground to her right. "Ew, stop doing that." Mia said. Elly just shortly snorted annoyed. "You've been out here for hours. Why don't you come in and have a cup of tea or something to eat?" "Stop worrying about me. I'm fine!" Elly said and got up. Mia followed her: "Elly. I don't understand. What feeling are you chasing so hard?" "Like I would ever tell you." Elly said clearly annoyed by Mia's concern for her. "I'm just worried about you. It's like.." "Like what?" Elly snickered. "Like you're obsessed, Elly. I don't think it's healthy. I'm.. I'm only saying this because I care about you." "If you really cared about me you'd leave me alone." "Is it a feeling you can catch alone?" Mia inquisited. "I don't want to talk to you about it, Mia. Just go back to the house." Elly said and tried to walk away from Mia faster but Mia kept following her. "Elly. Seriously. Just hear me out." Mia pleaded. "Don't tell me that bullshit about 'if you focuse on your life the feeling will just find you by itself'." Elly said and waved her hand dismissively in the air. Mia went silent. Elly stopped and turned around to look at Mia: "That WAS the bullshit speech you were gonna give me, huh?" Elly chuckled mockingly. Mia just looked to the ground. "Listen, Mia," Elly said and walked up to Mia. "I've tried the whole waiting around thing and just 'doing me' and all that. All the wrong feelings found me instead." Mia looked up at Elly. Elly gently raised Mia's head by placing her hand under Mia's chin. She looked her in the eyes: "Mia, I'm touched by your concern. But you gotta stop. Just let me chase this for myself." Elly said and kissed Mia on her forehead and turned around. This time Mia let her.
