This Time

"This time around is very different."

"How so?"

"Well, for a starters the colours are different."

"How have they changed?"

"They're not as bright. And also, the smells. Nothing smells fresh anymore."

"Are you sure?"

"Yeah, things feel old when I touch them too. Like they're full of history."

"I think you're reading too much into this."

"I don't think I am. I think you're not listening."

"Okay, but you're sure, you're not the one who has changed?"

"People can't change."
