The Texting Game

"As we watched in documentary called 'Their Planet' we saw that one human (Human 1) is waiting for another human (Human 2) to write first. The human is expecting the other human to act the way Human 1 wants them to act. Human 1 wants Human 2 to be able to read Human 1's thoughts. It's the mating dance, but instead of actual dancing like we have seen some birds do, the humans just jump at the sound of a message received on their phone and circle around their phone until then. Human 1 has talked to his or her friends about what to do in case Human 2 writes to him/her. The other humans have told Human 1 to wait just as long with texting back as Human 2 has taken. The other humans think that Human 2 has put a lot of thought into being passive although they cannot be sure of this. Because as impossibly as Human 2 can read Human 1's thoughts, as impossibly can Human 1 and his/her friends read the thoughts of Human 2. It's all part of the dance. The friends will say "The one who texts first is most eager." to disencourage Human 1 from texting Human 2 first. It is important for the humans "not to lose face". In this case they don't actually lose their faces as on the planet we studied last semester, but what they mean by it, is that they don't want to embarrass themselves. Many times both humans go through this waiting game process and with the triumphant overtake technology made on Earth, what eventually happened was that the planet was depopulated because no one texted first."
