"It's the perfect mix of adrenaline and meditation." she said. Anna responded: "I couldn't agree more." She'd found herself a fellow surfer at the local café and they'd started chatting when the other girl said she'd seen Anna doing quite well during the surf lesson earlier that day. The sun was high in the sky and the birds were all over the little sea side village which had only just during recent years gained popularity as a surfer spot. It was still a quaint little place with only a small hipster area with a handful of cafés, surf shops and food trucks. There was still only one surf school in town, but rumours had it that another one was going to open next summer. "What's your name by the way?" Anna asked. "I'm Clara." Clara held out her hand to greet Anna. Anna shook her hand and the girls smiled at each other. "I've only seen a few other girls with their own surf boards here." Clara said as she leaned back in her chair and raised her face against the sun. Anna copied Clara and looked up at the sun and said: "Yeah, I only just bought it. I really want to get better at it. Usually I was scared of the wild ocean out here, but the few times I've actually caught a wave, it's just been..." Anna tried to find the words. "Amazing, mind blowing, everything you've ever wanted?" Clara suggested jokingly and looked at Anna over her sunglasses. "Yeah, that too. But also just impressive, you know? How much force there is in one single wave." Anna looked into the distance remembering the very first wave she ever caught on a holiday a few years back. "Yeah, you get hooked." Clara said and smiled. "Yeah, first I didn't get you guys." Anna explained. "What, do you mean, 'us guys'?" Clara asked, still smiling. "I mean, you surfer people. You can come across as... quite.." "Quite, what?" Clara knew the answers to her question, but she still wanted Anna to say it. "I don't know.. Like you're in some kind of club that noooo one from the outside will eeeever understand the concept of." Anna shrug her shoulders and laughed a little to ease the mood. Clara just laughed. "But you know, now I get it." Clara looked at Anna who winked at her. They held eye contact and Clara suddenly flashed a cheeky smile. "One of us..." she quietly started chanting until she got louder and louder: "One of us! One of us!" When she got awkwardly loud she stopped and laughed. "Cheers to that." Clara held out her water bottle to Anna and Anna 'clinked' against it with her coffee cup and felt the fresh breeze against her sunkissed skin.
