'She ran as fast as she could. Ignoring the jabbing pain in her shin, she kept running. She was going to make it. She couldn't let them all down. They believed in her. The entire village had given everything they had extra for her to be able to train for this. If she didn't win it would be the end of them. They weren't going to let them survive another winter. Resources would be cut.'

"Woah, what are you writing about?" Luke asked and sat down next to Mia. "I don't know." Luke took her notebook and read it all. "Why is she running?" he asked and looked Mia in the eyes. "I'm not sure..." she said and leaned back and crossed her arms, looking straight ahead. Mia sighed. "What if you make it fun?" Luke suggested. "Fun?" Mia asked and looked at Luke. "Yeah, like she has to get the last bag og gummy bears from the supermarket." "Yeah, but killing off an entire village is kind of a big punishment for her not making it. At least in my opinion." Mia chuckled. "Maybe this is a really fucked up place with weird rules." Luke said. "Hmm. Maybe I'll make it fun. I'm just not sure how." Mia said. "When is it due?" Luke asked. "Oh, it's not for class. This is just for fun." "You never write for fun anymore." Luke said and smiled at Mia. "Well, I guess I've started again." she said and winked at him. "Hey, maybe, you just delete the part with the severe penalty to make it fun?" Luke suggested. "Nah, I've made a choice. I have to stick to it. What's written is written." They sat in silene for a bit. "What if she escapes?" Luke said after a while. "Escapes?" Mia asked. "Yeah, I mean, if she just gave up at some point. Like she sees that she can't make it, that she's going to disappoint her entire village. That she's doomed them all. So she runs away." Luke explained. "I think she'd get shot for that." Mia said and continued: "But I like your idea." "Thanks. You can have it for free." he said and smiled at her. He grabbed his bag. "I gotta go. Good luck with writing." "Thanks" Mia answered and put her pen to paper again.
