She stood on the platform. Waiting for the train to arrive. 7:40 the clock over her head said. He should be here in three minutes. Her heart was beating fast and she was sure she looked like a maniac with the way she was smiling one moment and then looking like she'd seen a ghost the next. She walked around the platform, trying to get rid of all the energy pulsing through her body. She took a deep breath and tried to calm herself. She hadn't felt like this many butterflies in her stomach in years. She knew that setting a date like this in the future created an immense amount of anticipation, but she couldn't help but enjoy it. 7:41. Another deep breath. Soon that train would screech to a complete stop in front of her. Would she recognise him right away? Would he recognise her? What would his eyes look like when looking into hers? What kind of hug should she go for? What if it became an awkward hug? She shook her head and told herself not to overthink it, like she always did. Just let things go as they go, she assured herself. There were a few other people on the platform. An older woman had been looking at her for a while. She'd noticed. She caught the eye of the older woman who smiled at her. The woman probably sensed the nervousness radiating off of her. 7:42. She smiled again at the situation. They'd been waiting for this moment for so long. Was he sitting in the train feeling just as nervous? He had more at stake not being on home ground and all that, so maybe he was. 7:43. Her heart jumped when she saw the head lights of the train in the distance out in the dark. She took a deep breath. She was startled when she felt a hand on her shoulder. It was the older woman. "Don't worry, honey." The woman winked at her and walked up the stairs before she could say thank you for the reassurance. The train came closer and closer. It felt like her heart was trying to escape her body. The train came to a stop and she searched every wagon with wild, excited eyes. She tried to breathe calmly but it seemed nearly impossible. She could feel her hands were shaky so she tried to hold them still. She caught the eyes of many passengers who walked out. Some of them smiled, seeming to know why she was excited. It felt like time was standing still. Suddenly her heart stopped for a split second as she saw him smiling at her on the steps of the train. It felt like a million butterflies were released in her stomach and her head was spinning. She flashed a big smile at him and knew it was gonna be just fine.
