Sitting By Your Side

"I can't wait until we're old. We'll rent a cottage somewhere. During the summer. I'll hold your hand and you'll hold mine. We'll talk about the night we met in that flat on a cold Tuesday evening in autumn. How we had no idea what all of this would lead to. We'll talk about how confused I was, how certain you always were. We'll talk about your children, my children, our parents, our friends, the people we love. We'll talk about how and why we love each other. Why we worked out. Why we held onto each other for so many years. And then we won't talk. We'll just sit there and enjoy that we have been by each other's sides for so many years. I can't wait to experience what it's like to look back on your life with your life witness."

"Wow... Are you drunk?" she replied.
