"Describe her to me as an animal." he instructed and she started typing. "An animal?" she said part retorically, part questioning. "Yes, an animal." the teacher repeated. An animal... An animal... She didn't know her that well, but the first thing that came to mind was a chick. So she started typing. 'She's a little chick. She might be a full grown, colourful hen on the outside but she acts like a little chick. Scared to be trampled on. Scared of her own little peeps. Especially the peeps inside her own mind. She comes across as cute and sweet but sometimes if she gets close she will hack her beak into the hand that tries to hold her. She can come across as helpless when you look close and when that happens she hides among the hens and roosters whose shade and size create a sanctuary for her. A hiding place where she can grow confident enough to go out and face the world once more. Maybe she'll stay a chick forever, but I hope she grows into the hen she portrays to be."
