Packed

Her roomie had left her suitcase open and packed for weeks now. It didn't look like her to do something like that. Especially after a bad trip. That's when she usually unpacked immediately to forget unfortunate events that had happened. Unpacking was an attempt to make everything go back to normal instead of being reminded of another failed attempt of connecting. She hadn't been home, so she couldn't ask her about it. She remembered her coming home late at night, slamming the door, letting the suitcase fall to the floor with a bang. She'd heard the zipper being unzipped angrily and the top being pushed back hard against the wall. She'd heard a deep sigh followed by what sounded like her roomie throwing herself on the bed at which point she had exited her room and gone to her roomie. She'd peaked around the corner and asked carefully: "How are you, honey?" Her roomie had just groaned and waved her away with her hand. "Are you sure?" she'd asked to which her roomie nodded. "Okay... you know where to find me."

She hadn't seen her since that night. She'd heard her come through the flat late at night and leaving early next morning. She was probably back to working crazy shifts at her two jobs to forget whatever he'd done this time around. She couldn't help but worry though. She knew it wasn't her responsibility, her roomie was a grown woman, but she cared. On the other hand her past suggestions had usually only created tension between them and that's definitely not what was needed right now. Maybe if she went straight to him this time? Told him to stop torturing her like that, to stop getting her hopes up just to let her down. Or was that meddling too much? She knew if her roomie found out she'd done that, she'd probably kick her out of the flat. She just hoped and prayed she'd be fed up with it soon enough. Maybe that was why she hadn't unpacked yet? Was she trying to remind herself to let go of it all? One could only hope.
