"If you could choose any outcome, which one would you choose?" he asked her and put the five cards down in front of her. "You mean any of these five?" she asked and looked him in the eyes. "Yes, any one of these five outcomes." he said. "But this is just a thought experiment, right?" she asked and traced a finger over one of the cards. He sat on the edge of his seat. "Of course. Just a thought." "But then I should be able to choose a sixth one as well, right?" she asked and grinned at him. "Since it's just a thought experiement." she continued. He nodded, though clearly frustrated. "Sure, sure. We can put a sixth card on there." he said but she waved his hand away when he took a card from the deck and tried to put it down next to the original five placed in front of her. "No, no. I don't need a physical one. It's all in my head, right?" she said and smiled at him again. "Well, just to be sure." he said and slid the sixth card onto the table. She frowned. "I said I didn't need that card." she protested. "It's just a game. Don't worry." he tried to assure her. The way he said s reminded her of a snake. "I said... I didn't want a sixth card!" she knew she had to do something drastic to get out of there. She stood up with such a force the table wobbled and a few of the cards fell off and onto the floor. As soon as the cards touched the floor they turned into dust. She turned around and ran for the door. "Come back here and finish what you started!" he yelled at her. He got onto the table and leapt into the air and tumbled on top of her. She fought him off and made it to the door. The handle was hot as an iron. Screaming she forced herself to push it down. She opened the door and kicked it shut. Just before she did she heard him screaming and saw him reach for her. But then it was all gone. The room she'd been in had transformed into a pile of dust. And she was free. Free from her thoughts.
