It Was Supposed To Be Just Another Monday

In one single second his life changed forever. When he got up that morning it had been just another Monday morning. His alarm had gone off at 6:30am as it always did. He'd put the kettle on. He had taken a quick hot shower. Put the clothes on he'd laid out for himself the night before. He had made himself a cup of coffee while toasting bread. He had had breakfast in front of his computer watching some lame TV show on Netflix. He had debated whether or not it was warm enough for him to wear his spring coat. As usual these days, he had decided against it and worn his winter coat. He had taken the bus to work cramped up against strangers. He had gotten into the office, said hi to colleagues he met while making his way to his desk. He'd wasted half of the day on Facebook taking meaningless personality tests. He had had coffee with Deb and lunch with Joshua around the corner at that Indian place they always went to. He knew exactly what the rest of his day would look like. Or at least he thought he did. He thought he was going to go home after work. That he was going to do some grocery shopping but then decide against it. He would order some takeout. He'd probably answer a call from his mother. He'd write happy birthday to a few people on Facebook. His takeout would be delivered and he would have a beer with it. He thought it was just going to be another Monday. He got his coat when the workday was done. Nodded goodbye to the colleagues still working that he passed on his way out. He'd clicked on the elevator button. As the doors opened Joshua yelled something at him and he answered and looked at him while he took a step into the elevator. Except an error had occured. And he fell.
