"I'm a pusher." the man said to Josh. They were sitting at the bar in a dimly lit pub. It smelled like cigarettes and the floor was sticky in places where beer had been dropped. The pub's majority of guests were men well above the age of 40. Josh had just broken up with his girlfriend and had gone for a walk in the drizzle while listening to sad music when he walked past the pub. He'd never noticed it before but there was something about it that drew him in. As he had stepped inside it was like the 80s tunes stopped for a second while all the men took a long look at him, judging whether he was allowed into their little man cave. Josh' heart beat hard at that moment and he sighed relieved when an old man in the corner nodded slightly at him and returned to his card game with his buddy. The nod removed the tension in the room. He should've just left, but Josh was immensely sad and could really need a beer, so he'd decided to have a single beer at the bar. The bartender was an older woman who had dyed her hair blonde one time to many. She wore a heavy vanilla scented perfume and didn't seem too impressed by a young man such as Josh. Two chairs to his right an old man in a big blue coat sat leaning on the bar with his forearms. The man had an almost full beer in front of him. He wore a hat so Josh couldn't see his features. "What ya' want, luv?" the bartender asked. "Just a pint of lager, please." Josh said while he couldn't get his eyes of the old man next to him. "You seem awfully interested in an old man." the blue coated man said, still looking down on his hands. "I'm sorry," Josh had to come up with an excuse. He definitely didn't want any trouble in this bar. "It's just, I thought I knew you from somewhere." "That's funny. Because you do." the old man said. He took his hat off to reveal his dark grey hair. The old man still looked down. "What? I do? From where, if I may ask?" Josh asked and searched his brain for an image of the old man. You met me about 2 years ago. It was a brief encounter, as it usually is. So I don't take it personally, you don't remember me." the old man chuckled. "Where did we meet? Who are you?" Josh asked and scooched a bit further out on his seat to get a bit closer to the old man and have a better look at him. The old man turned his face and looked Josh in the eyes. "I'm a pusher." the man said to Josh. The clear blue eyes the old man had seemed to spark a memory, but Josh simply couldn't retrieve it. It was like watching a blurry movie. "I'm sorry what?" Josh asked confused. "I'm a pusher. I push people to fall." the old man paused for a second: "I push people to fall in love. It was about two years ago. I pushed you when you met... what was her name again... that red haired girl with the green bag." the old man scratched his head while thinking. "Katherine." Josh said under his breath. "YES! Katherine. I pushed you to fall for Katherine." the old man said and smiled at Josh.
