Do you know that feeling when somebody enters your room and then leaves without closing the door behind them?
"Great. So that's settled. Can you close the door when you leave?"
"Sure thing." he said with a sad look on his face. He walked out of the room. But he didn't close the door.
"Hey! You forgot to close the door!" she yelled after him.
He came back and pushed it almost shut, leaving a small gap.
"Come on. Why won't you close it?" she asked. He was still on the other side of the door, but she knew he was still there. "I specifically told you to close it." she continued.
"People don't tell me to close doors." he finally answered.
"You've never been told to close a door before?" she asked.
"No, I'm usually the one who decides when it's closed." he said. He was struggling with himself. It was obvious in his tone of voice.
"Well, I'm telling you now to close it. Please respect that." she said. It wasn't easy for her either, but she had to stand her ground.
"Fine." he said and closed the door.
But less than 5 minutes passed before he came back, carefully laid a hand on the handle, pushed it down and opened the door a little again. She heard the squeaky door open and shook her head. She sighed, got up and closed it.
But despite everything, she couldn't bring herself to lock it.
